Who can this help?

There are two main groups of injectable products, which work on totally different principles.

1. Filling agents.

- Calcium Hydroxyapatite is naturally found in the body. It particularly useful as a deep filling agent as it not only fills it also stimulates new collagen production. Radiesse is a popular form of this.

- Hyaluronic acid is also naturally found in the body, and forms the basis of several products for filling lines and contours, including lips, frown lines and many other areas.

- Collagen production in local areas of need can be stimulated by injectable products, which last much longer than bovine collagen based products.

2. Muscle weakening agents derived from Botulinum.

- Useful to control overactivity of facial expression muscles which cause frown lines, crows feet lines and areas of imbalance of facial muscles.

Chosing the right injectable products and other rejuvenating treatments should be done in consultation with Dr Campbell. These treatments will not usually be done on the day of initial consultation, but will be planned at a time and place suited to the treatment(s) planned. Some of the injectables work better if premixed the day before, while others are best done on a day when other patients are being treated to avoid expensive wastage.
